Members First Credit Union (MFCU) challenged its staff last week to preform random acts of kindness in celebration of World Kindness Day as part of their Community Difference Project. MFCU was extremely proud of their staff as they were able to impact community members across the state by handing out laundry kits, providing goodie bags to seniors, purchasing coffee or lunch and even paying off a daycare bill.
The Community Difference Project is an ongoing project that continues to provide support to MFCU communities year round. It was created on the foundation of the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Staff members at MFCU are committed and passionate about living out this philosophy, not only by providing outstanding member service in the forms of building financial stability and ongoing financial education, but also providing support to non-profit organizations. Support is given through monetary donations, random acts of kindness and volunteering.
MFCU is excited to be sharing the philosophy of “people helping people,” especially being able to see another area organization embrace the phrase. Located in the Midland, the corporate headquarters of MFCU, the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network (EFPN) in September unveiled renovations to their building along with a mural that reads “people helping people.” This shared phrase is a tribute to the value of giving back. Each person can encourage a better tomorrow by positively impacting our community by helping another. Andy Ault, EFPN board vice president, said “We value corporate partners like MFCU who provide volunteer and financial support to help us
deliver our vision of ‘always food in every home’.”
EFPN is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization established in 1983 as a cooperative effort to provide food and supplies to people in Midland County who have emergency needs and are living near or below the Federal poverty level income guidelines. They are currently collecting for the Community Thanksgiving Food Collection in the form of food, personal care items, cookies and cash donations.
