Reliant donates sneakers for children in Williamson

Reliant Community Credit Union continues its mission to help students in the Finger Lakes put their best feet forward!  On Thursday, March 5, Reliant donated 150 pairs of sneakers to the Williamson Central School District, which is the first such donation Reliant has made so far this year.  The sneakers will be given to children who attend the district’s elementary and middle schools.

These donations are all part of a special community effort Reliant created called Feet Forward, through which the credit union will be donating a total of $10,000 worth of quality sneakers in 2020 to schools and organizations in several of the communities Reliant serves. This year, Reliant collaborated with Jonathan Griffiths, the owner of Rochester Running Co., who helped facilitate the credit union’s purchase of an array of high quality children’s sneakers so that the credit union could donate them to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality footwear.

“Our Feet Forward project has helped so many children over the past four years—we can tell by their excited reactions that we have made an impact!” said Pamela Heald, President & CEO.  “We are proud to continue this project in 2020, and hope our contributions will enable the children in the program who benefit to achieve success in their lives.”

Reliant representatives presented the sneakers to representatives from the school district, including Williamson Middle School Principal John Fulmer. “Our active Middle School students will benefit greatly from the generosity of Reliant and Rochester Running Company,” said Mr.Fulmer.  “We are so thankful to be a recipient of Reliant’s Feet Forward program this year,” said Marygrace Mazzullo, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at Williamson Central Schools.  “We appreciate the opportunity this program has afforded us to help so many of our students.”

Elementary student Connor Manahan was very happy to receive a new pair of sneakers, stating, “Thanks for my new sneakers. I love them. They make me go fast.”
