CUTX celebrates 89 years of serving members

Credit union continues growth with more than 144,000 members

This year marks Credit Union of Texas’ 89th year of serving members.  In 1931, a group of Dallas teachers applied for a credit union charter. They started with just over $65 in total assets. Today, CUTX has more than $1.4 billion in assets and over 144,000 members.

Through volunteerism, community sponsorships and financial education, CUTX has remained committed to actively sponsoring events and causes to enhance the quality of life for the communities they serve. The staff, members and volunteers have proudly donated time and money to local organizations such as the Children’s Advocacy Centers of both Collin and Dallas Counties, Junior Achievement and Special Olympics as well as many others. Additionally, CUTX supports education by awarding scholarships to members each year. In 2019 alone, CUTX attended 200 community events, volunteered more than 800 hours, partnered with 26 ISDs and supported 11 nonprofits.

CUTX Vice President of Engagement Jennifer Olvera said, “We take tremendous pride in the number of re-lationships that we have been able to cultivate since our doors opened in 1931. Despite the fact that we have grown significantly since our beginnings, we have been able to keep the same personalized experi-ence that our members have come to expect from us at CUTX. Many of our members opened their first banking accounts with us and years later are trusting us with their children’s or grandchildren’s accounts. Our members have become family, and we are so happy they call Credit Union of Texas home.”
