First Capital FCU awards two $1,000 Dennis Flickinger honorable scholarships to members!

First Capital Federal Credit Union is proud to announce Kaylee Renfrew, and Samuel Koons as the 2020 Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarship winners.

“It’s great to be able to award this scholarship money to Kaylee and Samuel to help them further their education after High School,” said Sue DeStephano, President/CEO. “They both have very bright futures ahead.”

Kaylee attended Dover Area High School and is headed off to York College of Pennsylvania this fall to pursue a dual degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations. Her goal is to become a journalist upon graduation. Kaylee is currently an intern for the Dillsburg Banner. She was a member of varsity club, lead anchor for the Dover Daily Show, and a member of the National Honors Society.

Samuel attended Red Lion Area High School. He will be attending Towson University in the fall. His goal is to work for a professional sports organization. Samuel participated in cross country and baseball all 4 years in High School. He was even able to participate in a baseball mission trip to Uganda in 2018.

The First Capital scholarship program was renamed the Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarship Program in 2016 to honor our former CEO, Dennis Flickinger, who retired in 2015. Dennis advocated for financial education in schools and worked tirelessly to promote Credit Unions as a better choice for their financial future.
