Black Hills FCU supports new pool complex for Pierre Area with donation

Black Hills FCU is proud to contribute $10,000 to the City of Pierre pool complex project. The donation goes towards the $13 million effort to bring a modern outdoor pool complex to the city.

BHFCU felt it essential to contribute to this project both for Pierre's residents and for the economic growth opportunity it presents for the city by pulling others from the region in for outdoor recreation.

"Having been aware of the discussion in Pierre for years, BHFCU felt it was imperative to make a significant contribution to such an important community project," said Chris McConnell, Pierre Member Service Center manager. "I look forward to the day when I can enjoy the pool complex with my family and the rest of our community."

The new modern pool complex will replace Pierre's current 90-year-old outdoor pool. Plans for the complex will satisfy residents' wants and draw others into the community for outdoor recreation.

The pool complex will provide new features including, a lazy river, waterslides, a zip line, diving boards, children's areas, and a concession stand. In addition, the pool will be accessible to all in the community with zero-depth entry. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2021.

The $13 million pool complex project is funded through a $10 million allocation by the city, with public and private donations contributing the remaining $3 million. BHFCU is pleased to contribution $10,000 to this promising project.

Donations are made through the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
