During 2020, CP Financial Credit Union has received numerous awards, successfully converted to a state charter, and announced plans for a merger and rebrand.
CP Financial Credit Union 2020 Awards include:
- The Detroit Free Press recognized CP Financial Credit Union as a Top Workplace in the state of Michigan. CP Financial Credit Union has received this honor for seven consecutive years. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC.
- The Michigan Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association awarded the Financial Education team with the Alphonse Desjardins Award. The Jackson Saves Program was given this year’s honor for leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth and adult financial literacy.
- The Michigan Credit Union Foundation Award for Excellence in Consumer Education was received by CP Financial Credit Union’s Community Education Supervisor, Kelly Hatler.
- Jackson Magazine awarded CP Financial Credit Union as The Best Credit Union as part of the Best of Jackson Awards, which are voted on by the community.
Chrissy Siders, CEO of CP Financial Credit Union stated “The challenges presented during 2020 could have threatened the good work and financial health of the credit union, instead it was a year to show our resiliency and ability to turn challenges into opportunities. We are proud of our accomplishments and humbled by the support of our members and communities”.
In 2020 CP Financial Credit Union successfully converted to a state charter, allowing anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Michigan to become a member.
CP Financial Credit Union will continue to expand with the announcement of a new branch coming to Vandercook Lake, MI in Spring 2021.
In November, CP Financial Credit Union announced plans to merge with Washtenaw Federal Credit Union. Plans include combining both teams and retaining all staff. CP Financial Credit Union and Washtenaw Federal Credit Union will rebrand as TRUE Community Credit Union which will take effect January 1, 2021.
