PremierOne Credit Union awards scholarships to college-bound members

Helps student members achieve educational goals

PremierOne Credit Union awarded two lucky college-bound students under its annual PremierOne Scholarship Program on June 18th. For the past five years, the credit union has been honored to help student members achieve their educational goals through this unique program.

The credit union plans to hold a ceremony this August to celebrate the two scholarship recipients. More details will be announced at a later date.

Willa Reed of Scotts Valley was awarded the Richard Busse Memorial Scholarship based on her community involvement. Willa is a graduate of Scotts Valley High School and plans to attend UC Berkley this fall semester.

Lauren Avalos of San Jose was awarded the Robert DeBarr Scholarship based on her outstanding leadership skills. Lauren graduated from Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose and plans to attend UC Santa Barbara where she will major in political science.

“We would like to congratulate this year’s exceptional scholarship recipients who exemplified a commitment to furthering their education and improving their communities,” said PremierOne Credit Union President and CEO Andrea Brewer. “We are pleased to support their educational journey as they venture into new opportunities. We wish them great success in all they do and accomplish!”

The PremierOne Scholarship Program offers two scholarships to graduating high school seniors or undergraduate students to recognize outstanding leadership skills and excellence in community service. The program was created to honor the late Robert E. DeBarr, a board of directors volunteer for the credit union, as well as the late Richard Busse who served on the supervisory committee and also served the community for over 40 years.
