NWFCU Foundation awards $105,000 in scholarships

The NWFCU Foundation, in partnership with the CIA Retirees Association (CIRA), awarded $105,000 in scholarships to twenty one young scholars as part of their annual Ben DeFelice, CIRA, Financial Awareness Network and Need-Based Scholarship Programs. This year’s program was particularly competitive, with a record 435 applications.

“Each year we are so impressed by the many talented and exceptional students who apply for NWFCU Foundation scholarships. Once again, this year’s record pool of applicants left us all awed by their dedication to scholastics, family and support of their communities,” said Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Kaycee Childress. “This year’s scholarship winners are all incredible young people with amazing futures ahead of them, and we are all so thrilled to recognize their accomplishments.”

Recently, the Foundation held a virtual awards ceremony honoring each of the recipients, giving them an opportunity to be recognized by their family, friends and peers for their amazing accomplishments. The 2021 recipients truly represent the best of the best, not only in their academic achievements, but also in their dedication and contributions to school, family and community.

“We’re so pleased to be able award a total scholarship amount of $105,000 to twenty-one deserving recipients to pursue their dreams through higher education,” said President and CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union and Chairman of NWFCU Foundation, Jeff Bentley. “We could not do this without the support of our generous donors, who allow us to assist such a bright, talented group of students.”

The NWFCU Foundation continues to grow its scholarship program through donations and fundraising, such as the annual Drive for the Driven golf tournament. Learn more about the Scholarship Program and how your support can help make college dreams come true.
