National Credit Union Administration Chairman Todd M. Harper testified today before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. During his appearance, Chairman Harper discussed the state of the credit union industry and the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, the NCUA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic fallout, with a particular emphasis on the road ahead. He also detailed the agency’s efforts to advance diversity and inclusion, improve consumer financial protection, and further economic equity and justice.

The NCUA is the federal agency created by the U.S. Congress to regulate, charter and supervise federal credit unions. With the backing of the full faith and credit of the United States, the NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund.
