National Credit Union Administration Chairman Todd M. Harper testified today before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. During his appearance, Chairman Harper discussed the state of the credit union industry and the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, the NCUA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic fallout, with a particular emphasis on the road ahead. He also detailed the agency’s efforts to advance diversity and inclusion, improve consumer financial protection, and further economic equity and justice.

With the backing of the full faith and credit of the United States, the NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of 142 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the overwhelming majority of state-chartered credit unions.
