InterLutions, a CUSO offering I-Care collaborative employee benefit solutions, was asked to present a breakout session at The Wisconsin Credit Union League’s 2022 Annual Convention & Expo. The convention was held in Appleton, WI from Wednesday, May 11 to Saturday, May 14.
Jesse Kohl, President of InterLutions, spoke to a group of credit union leaders about the importance of not waiting to shop for employee benefits. Many credit unions are still purchasing medical insurance the old way – meaning one year at a time with the same broker, carrier, and fully-insured model. As healthcare costs rise and catastrophic claims hit with greater frequency and severity, Kohl suggests that maybe it’s time to do something different.
During Kohl’s presentation, “The Vicious Cycle of Health Insurance Renewals,” he discussed how credit unions can leverage claims data, cost containment strategies, and advocacy programs to drive down healthcare costs and give employees the benefits they deserve.
“Is there really an option to buy less insurance at lower costs and still deliver high-quality competitive benefits to our employees?” Kohl asked the audience. “Our CUSO’s long and growing list of credit union clients will tell you the answer is yes.”
