Former President and CEO of iTHINK Financial, Lary B. McCants, died on July 4, 2023.
Mr. McCants had been employed by iTHINK Financial since 1988 and retired in 2013. His first five years with the credit union were spent in the position of Executive Vice President of Operations. In 1993 Lary was appointed to President/CEO, where he served for 20 years. In his time as CEO, Lary oversaw the growth of the credit union from $261 million in assets to $834 million in assets. Six additional credit unions were merged into the field of membership while he was CEO and the credit union’s network expanded from 4 to 15 branches. Under his leadership, he orchestrated the Credit Union’s early adoption into mobile banking, electronic services and social media, giving iTHINK Financial members 24/7 remote access to their accounts, services and information.
Prior to working at iTHINK Financial, Lary was employed by IBM Corporation for 21 years. His last position at IBM was Distribution Functional Manager for the PC Division in Boca Raton. Lary was the 64th member to join the IBM Boca Raton Employees Federal Credit Union when it was founded in 1969. In 1972, Lary was nominated to the Board of Directors of the Credit Union and served as Board Chairman for several years until he went to work for the Credit Union in 1988. While he was Credit Union President and CEO, Lary was very active in the Credit Union industry serving as a Member and Chairman of the Board of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), Board Director and Marketing Committee Chairman of the Florida Credit Union Shared Services Organization, and member of the Political Action Committee of the Florida Credit Union League.

He was very kind and encouraging to everyone who knew or worked for him. Lary always had a story to tell, and he considered the credit union his baby. His 50 years of service in the credit union industry is extraordinary. He will be greatly missed by all.”
Lary is survived by his wife Pat, his three children, Chris, Kevin, and Missy, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. A mass will be held in Lary's honor on Saturday, July 8th, at 12 pm ET at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in West Palm Beach followed by a Celebration of Life at Benvenuto Restaurant in Boynton Beach. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Trustbridge Hospice Foundation in Lary's name.
