Advance Financial Federal Credit Union and its Board of Directors raise funds for food drive

3,000 meals will help feed food insecure

Schererville, IN (November 30, 2023) |

Food insecurity doesn’t know seasonality.  Over 110,000 individuals in Northwest Indiana are food insecure, meaning they don’t have enough food for themselves and their families.  What makes matters even worse, is that over the past year, inflation has had a significant impact on food prices resulting in less food for the money.  While inflation impacts the entire community, it can have a dire impact on those who are already food insecure.

While Advance Financial Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) is committed to the philosophy of “People Helping People” on a year-round basis, this belief has been heightened over the past few years due to the impact that COVID-19 and high inflation has had on the communities they serve.  When the need exists, the credit union ramps up to the challenge...fulfilling on their tagline... “Always Ahead.”

“We believe strongly in the mission of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana and again this year our Board unanimously decided to make a financial contribution to them,” stated Janice A. Vamos, Chairperson of AFFCU.

Member and Board donations totaled $1,000!  “The financial donations of $1,000 translates to 3,000 meals for needy members of our community, added Chairperson Vamos.”  Additionally, AFFCU’s food drive brought in 408 pounds of food for the Food Bank of NWI.
