Bruce Adams is the President and CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut (CULCT). He assumed this role in 2019, after spending the bulk of his 15-year career as a legal and political strategist working in the financial and nonprofit sectors.

Prior to assuming his role atop the CULCT, Mr. Adams served in several high-ranking appointed capacities in Connecticut state government, including as Acting Commissioner and General Counsel for the State Department of Banking, and Associate Legal Counsel under Governor Dan Malloy, General Counsel under Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, and Deputy Commissioner for the State Department of Revenue Services under Governor Ned Lamont. Following a judicial clerkship in the Southern District of New York for Judge Thomas P. Griesa, Mr. Adams also spent several years as a financial litigator.
Long active in the nonprofit sector, Mr. Adams serves as a Trustee for the Henrietta B. and Frederick H. Bugher Foundation, which funds multimillion dollar grants for cardiovascular research. He is involved with a number of Connecticut charities and initiatives which promote youth empowerment and financial literacy.
In his role as President/CEO of the CULCT, Mr. Adams has played a leading public role in managing the financial ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic, offering thought leadership and strategic expertise for individuals and businesses coping with the unprecedented shutdown and trying to preserve their financial well-being. During this time, Mr. Adams has become a very familiar and reassuring presence across Connecticut’s media outlets.
Mr. Adams is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He lives in West Hartford, CT with his family.
