​Makala graduated from Iowa State University in December of 2024 with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communications. Throughout her studies, she has interned with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, associate-produced broadcasts for Cyclones TV—covering Iowa State athletics on ESPN+—and served as the Director of Community Outreach for the Iowa State Sports Media Club. Her strong media foundation and dedication to storytelling make her a valuable asset to the PolicyWorks team.
