America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst) today announced the three employee-selected charities it will support throughout the 2020 calendar year on behalf of its established “Community First” Campaign — an annual employee-driven fundraising initiative for local nonprofit organizations.
Smile-A-Mile, Three Hots and A Cot and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham will receive support through numerous annual AmFirst activations scheduled throughout the end of the year — including bake sales, basketball tournaments, a golf tournament and a clay shoot. Member donations will also be encouraged.
“Each year, our employees nominate three organizations for us to support with our time, money and community outreach efforts,” said Bill Connor, President/CEO, AmFirst. “These nonprofits are making a huge impact in their respective focus areas, and we are thrilled to be part of their story.”
Smile-A-Mile provides hope, healing and love in the event of a childhood cancer journey. Through year-round meaningful and educational programming, Smile-A-Mile helps those in Alabama who are affected both during and after treatment.
Three Hots and A Cot is an organization formed by veterans to help veterans by assisting homeless military veterans’ transition from life on the streets into a self-sustained lifestyle.
As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters matches adult volunteers and children in communities across the country, with these relationships intending to have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
