$21k in financial education funding awarded

FALCON HEIGHTS, MN (July 20, 2022) — The InSPIREation Foundation (IF) recently awarded a total of $21,400 to three organizations that provide financial literacy education, and tools to achieve financial freedom:

  • The FoolProof Foundation is an educational technology non-profit industry leader in providing free, accessible, online financial literacy that is unique from others. Their mission is to empower consumers with independent resources to make the right financial decisions for life.  The InSPIREation Foundation funding will allow them to expand their programming in Minnesota.

  • Kids At Risk Action (KARA) is a non-profit action tank that supports the people, policies, and programs that improve the lives of at-risk youth. The IF funding will support KARA’s FinLit program; financial literacy designed for at-risk and underserved youth.  FinLit is designed for people impacted by childhood trauma, poverty, systemic neglect, and abuse.

  • Rosemount High School’s business education department will use the IF funding to incorporate financial literacy games from Breakout EDU into their Personal Money Management courses.  Their goal is to financially educate students to be informed financial decision-makers.

“We are so proud of the work our grant recipients do to strengthen our communities,” said Bob Groven, InSPIREation Foundation Chair, “We are excited to support these projects.”

The InSPIREation Foundation (IF) offers grant opportunities for funding financial literacy focused projects.  IF offers two grant cycles per year. The next application deadline is September 30, 2022.

About The InSPIREation Foundation

The InSPIREation Foundation (formerly Kentron) traces its roots back to September 29, 1938 when the Group Health Association (GHA) was incorporated. The majority of GHA’s mission was “to engage in activities for the promotion of health and well-being of its members through education…”  To further GHA’s mission, the Kentron Foundation was formed in 2002 to provide grants to organizations that promote whole healthy persons through wellness of mind, body, and spirit.  In 2019, its name was re-developed into The InSPIREation Foundation, and its mission is now to fund meaningful financial literacy efforts that empower individuals and transform communities through knowledge, skills, and responsible decision making to attain financial freedom.  To learn more about the InSPIREation Foundation, please visit www.inspireation.org.
