40,000 Dover Federal Credit Union members recognize Senator Carper

DOVER, DE (May 6, 2015) — Senator Tom Carper was recently honored by local financial cooperative, Dover Federal Credit Union on behalf of his effort to protect the data security of taxpayers. During a visit to Delaware’s largest credit union, Dover Federal CEO, David Clendaniel, thanked Senator Carper for his sponsorship of the Cyber Threat Sharing Act of 2015, ensuring there’s a solid process in place to disclose lawfully obtained cyber threat indicators to a federal entity for investigative purposes. Mr. Clendaniel realizes first-hand the impact of protecting and securing proprietary data , as the CEO of a member-owned financial cooperative, which puts members as the top priority in the decision making process.

During Carper’s visit to Dover Federal,   the Senator took time to meet staff, review the credit union’s movement to serve its’ members, as well as discuss issues affecting the credit union industry. David Clendaniel, CEO stated, “The credit union industry is in a critical time of regulatory challenges. Having Senator Carper realize the work we do to provide financial stability and security as well as and empower the economic well-being of those within our communities, helps our voice be heard when regulatory changes are being reviewed, which can directly influence the future of our industry.”
