Sidney Federal Credit Union donates $20,000 to United Way Mid Rural NY to support Children’s Oral Health

Sidney, NJ (June 10, 2026) |

SFCU has recently presented a $20,000 donation to the United Way Mid Rural NY, supporting efforts to improve access to dental care for children across Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Madison counties.

This marks the first contribution in the Food and Basic Needs focus of SFCU’s Why SFCU? 1 Million Reasons Community Support Initiative.

The funding will provide dental kits and oral hygiene education to approximately 16,000 school-aged children throughout the region. Each kit includes essential items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, along with educational materials to help students build healthy habits early on.

Access to dental care remains a significant challenge in many rural communities, where provider shortages and transportation barriers can make routine care difficult to obtain. The Regional Dental Task Force was created to address these gaps by delivering resources directly to schools and families.

“For many families in our area, access to basic health resources like dental care isn’t always guaranteed,” said Jim Reynolds, President and CEO of Sidney Federal Credit Union. “This initiative ensures that thousands of local children have the tools and education they need to stay healthy, and we’re proud to support that effort.”

The impact of the program is expected to reach children across the four‑county region, helping reduce preventable dental issues while reinforcing the importance of daily oral hygiene.

“This support allows us to significantly expand our reach in communities that need it most,” said Elizabeth Monaco, President & CEO of United Way Mid Rural NY. “By providing both supplies and education, we’re helping children build healthy habits that can last a lifetime.”

As SFCU continues to invest in the communities it serves, this donation reflects a broader commitment to addressing essential, everyday needs, from access to care to long‑term well‑being.

The Why SFCU? 1 Million Reasons initiative is a $1 million commitment focused on strengthening local communities through partnerships with organizations that provide critical services and support.  Learn more about the initiative or get involved by visiting: https://sfcuonline.org/1millionreasons/
