Beginning January 1, 2019, Box Elder Credit Union began celebrating its 65th anniversary in a very special way; by sprinkling 65 Acts of Kindness to their members and the community of Box Elder County throughout 2019.
“Our employees were so excited to get involved and surprise some of our members and people in the community with random acts of kindness,” said Box Elder Credit Union’s Chief Marketing Officer, Tonya Gail. “Everyone knows someone who could use some kindness and a friendly smile.”
The credit union’s first act of kindness was organized to honor local law enforcement and provide them lunch on Law Enforcement Day. From there, the acts of kindness grew to give much-needed funds and items to community non-profits, school organizations, members and random citizens in the community. Everyone got involved, including CEO Scott Webre.
“The credit union has always been community-minded and believed in the philosophy of people helping people,” said Tonya Gail. “We’ve supported the community and the people who live here in so many ways, whether it’s monetarily or through service, but more often than not, we give, support and serve quietly. Most of what we do to give to our community is never known.”
Focusing on random acts of kindness is a tradition the credit union will be carrying on into the new year. They hope others will join them by incorporating random acts of kindness into their year.
