Affinity Plus hires data scientist to augment strategy, enhance member relationships

Stephen Geyen hired as Affinity Plus Vice President of Business Intelligence.

ST. PAUL, MN. (June 19, 2015) — Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union recently announced the addition of a data scientist to its team on June 15. Geyen has worked as an analyst in various capacities for more than 20 years, most recently as a Midwest bank analyst for 12 years.  His work experience spans small and large for-profit companies including American Express and public service with the State of Minnesota. Geyen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the credit union in forecasting, budgeting and business analysis.

“Adding Stephen to our team strengthens the foundation of our credit union and enables us to develop greater familiarity and stronger relationships with our existing members,” said Affinity Plus President & CEO Dave Larson. “Performing a more thorough examination of our data will provide insight into our members’ needs, helping us to serve them even better.”

Although he is new to the Affinity Plus team, Geyen is no stranger to the credit union industry. He served as an Affinity Plus Board member from 2012-2015, most recently on the executive committee as Treasurer, stepping down in May to join the credit union staff. Prior to that, Geyen spent five years as a volunteer on the Supervisory Committee. As a Minnesota native, Geyen said he is excited to relocate from Oregon back to the Twin Cities.

“Credit unions are great because of their foremost commitment to serving and improving the lives of their members,” Geyen said. “I have a passion to serve credit union members, having been one for nearly 25 years, and I’m looking forward to digging into our data and helping to anticipate members’ needs as the financial services industry evolves.”
