AMOCO employees build doorways to homeownership

Texas City, TX (June 25, 2025) |

AMOCO Federal Credit Union recently partnered with Bay Area Habitat for Humanity for a volunteer build day, reinforcing its commitment to teamwork, community involvement, and meaningful partnerships. The event brought AMOCO employees out of the office and onto the building site, where they worked side by side operating power tools, constructing door and window frames, and helping build homes for families in need. AMOCO donated $25,000 to co-sponsor the home, providing crucial funding for the construction project and advancing efforts to expand access to affordable homes in Galveston County.

“Seeing how the building process works and getting our hands dirty was a unique and powerful experience,” said an AMOCO team member. “It’s inspiring to know that families who qualify for Habitat homes are required to complete homeowner education classes, which cover everything from financial literacy and budgeting to home maintenance and repairs. It’s not just about building houses; it’s about setting families up for long-term success.” This hands-on experience allowed employees to see the direct impact of their efforts, from construction to completion, and deepened their pride in contributing to a project that benefits the community.

The event also emphasized AMOCO’s role in supporting both financial and housing security. Participating in efforts that combine service with education reflects the credit union's overall mission to empower families and build stronger communities. By supporting Bay Area Habitat for Humanity, AMOCO is making a real difference—helping families build better lives, promoting self-reliance, and strengthening the community.
