Ankeny student art showcased at Veridian’s annual ArtShare Premiere

ANKENY, IA (January 10, 2014) —  Select art students from Ankeny’s three high schools celebrated the public display of their work at Veridian Credit Union’s annual ArtShare Premiere on Thursday. ArtShare features an annual collection of art created by local high school students. The pieces are selected by the schools’ art department leaders and are professionally framed or prepared for display in the branch, where they remain on display throughout the year.

The 2014 Ankeny ArtShare collection is made up of 40 original works, which range from digital photography and graphic design to paintings and pottery. The collection was unveiled at Thursday’s ArtShare Premiere to more than 150 attendees, including artists’ family and friends, area business leaders, school administrators and teachers.

“ArtShare gives us a chance to recognize and celebrate the talents of local student artists,” said Shelly McGill, Veridian’s Central Iowa Regional Manager. “By displaying the art on our branch walls, we’re giving the students a public forum and sharing our appreciation of their work with our members.”

Veridian partners with schools in Ankeny, Cedar Rapids and Waterloo to coordinate ArtShare displays. This year, Veridian expanded the program in Ankeny to include Ankeny Centennial High School and Ankeny Christian Academy. In Ankeny, the event was also held in conjunction with the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce’s January Business After Hours event. ArtShare Premiere events are scheduled for February 17 in Cedar Rapids and March 3 in Waterloo.
