PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 12, 2020) — This week, Ardent Credit Union (ACU) members donated nearly $4,000 to several local organizations to help combat food insecurity. Throughout the month of October, each branch of the credit union participated in this Halloween-themed fundraiser as part of Ardent’s ongoing commitment to give back to neighbors in need. As a result, contributions were able to be made to Martha’s Choice Marketplace, Phoenixville Area Community Services Inc., The Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission and the Wayne Food Pantry just in time to help families through the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
For the fundraiser, Ardent customers were able to purchase ‘Quack-o-Lanterns’, Halloween-themed rubber ducks, for $5 each at any branch throughout the month of October. The collected funds were then donated to several nearby organizations helping to provide meals to local families. Branch donations were sent to Martha’s Choice Marketplace (Blue Bell branch), Phoenixville Area Community Services Inc. (Oaks branch), The Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission (Philadelphia branches) and Wayne Food Pantry ( Wayne branch).
“As a community organization, we want to continue our efforts to give back, and we hope to take a little bit of stress off of families in need especially during the upcoming holiday season,” said Rob Werner, President & CEO of Ardent Credit Union. “We are very touched by the support and involvement of our members, and the funds that we were able to raise throughout October, despite the hardships everyone is facing.”
In addition to the donations made from the October fundraiser, the credit union also recently contributed to Philabundance as part of their ongoing mission to fight hunger.
