Army names Navy Federal “Credit Union of the Year”

U.S. Army Recognizes Fort Meade Branch for Outstanding Service

VIENNA, VA (August 3, 2022) — Navy Federal Credit Union’s branch located in U.S. Army Garrison Fort George G. Meade in Maryland was awarded the number one Army Distinguished Credit Union of 2021. This is the second time a Navy Federal branch has been awarded this honor for one of its branches from the United States Army.

“This award is a testament to the dedication we have for our members,” said Keith Hoskins, Executive Vice President of Navy Federal Branch Operations. “Although we have all been dealing with the issues the COVID-19 global pandemic has caused, here at Navy Federal, we never forgot our mission, providing the best service we can to our members.”

Colonel Christopher Nyland of the U.S. Army Installation Command nominated the branch for the distinguished award. In his nomination package, Col. Nyland emphasized that in 2021, employees of the Navy Federal, USAG Fort Meade Branch used exemplary service to members of the Fort Meade Community during the COIVD-19 pandemic.

Col. Nyland also recognized the USAG Fort Meade Branch for the following efforts:

  • Navy Federal Credit Union used innovated solutions to provide banking services, relief and assistance.
  • Providing financial counseling for service-members and families on Fort Meade while other institutions were limiting availability.
  • The branch included currency exchange for essential entities on Post.
  • Providing financial literacy training for JROTC students and giving school supplies to students attending Anne Arundel County schools located on the installation.

“We are honored to receive this award from the U.S. Army,” said Jenelle Taylor, Fort Meade Branch Manager. “During the pandemic, our dedication as branch and organization never wavered. This is only helping us come up with new and innovated ideas to serve the members of the Fort Meade branch by helping them meet their financial goals.”
