Ascensus’ JEAN-IUS Way To Give Back

Dresher, Pennsylvania–February 21, 2012–“Jeans day” takes on a whole new meaning at Ascensus. Through the company’sComfort for a Cause program, associates who make a minimum $5 donation to charity are rewarded with a week of being able to wear jeans to work. The program is hugely popular, with tens of thousands of dollars raised since it was first launched in 2010.

One factor that likely contributes to the program’s success is that every aspect is associate-driven. Associates nominate the charities for consideration and then vote to select the final six that will be supported throughout the year (5 national charities and one local charity for each of the company’s seven locations). Last year, associates chose to support the following organizations:

  • American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • American Diabetes Association
  • Wounded Warrior Program (USO)

  • Atlanta Community Food Bank (Atlanta, GA)
  • Ronald G. Repka Foundation (Fort Wayne, IN)
  • Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (Indianapolis, IN)
  • H.A.R.T. (Brainerd, MN)
  • EducationWorks (Dresher, PA)
  • Sanford Healthcare 61 for 61 (Fargo, ND
  • Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Center (Middleton, WI)

“We are thrilled that Comfort for a Cause has been so well received. With the caring group of people that make up the Ascensus team, I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings,” said Amy Walker, Vice President, Human Resources at Ascensus.

Walker has good reason to be positive. In the words of a longtime Ascensus associate, Gina Smith, “Everyone loves to be able to wear jeans, but now it is about so much more—giving back to those in need. Wearing jeans is just an added perk.”
