Ashworth Credit Union to merge with Veridian Credit Union

WATERLOO, IA (May 12, 2014) — West Des Moines-based Ashworth Credit Union is planning to merge with Waterloo-based Veridian Credit Union. Ashworth members approved the merger with a vote at a special membership meeting on April 29.  The Iowa Division of Credit Unions and the National Credit Union Administration have also approved the merger, which is expected to be complete on June 29.

Ashworth Credit Union was established in 1957 to serve employees of GuideOne Mutual Insurance and currently serves 900 members. Ashworth leaders cite members’ desire for additional services and the increasing complexity of financial industry regulations as its reasons for pursuing the merger.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve Ashworth members and welcome them into Veridian’s membership,” said Monte Berg, Senior Vice President of Finance at Veridian. “The two credit unions are working diligently together to ensure a seamless transition.”

Veridian Credit Union, founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its members. The credit union offers a full range of consumer financial services and employs more than 600 Iowans throughout 26 branches. For more information, visit veridiancu.org or call (800) 235-3228.
