Barb Bowker honored as one of Central Penn Business Journal’s Women of Influence

HARRISBURG, PA (June 23, 2015) — PSECU is proud to announce that Barb Bowker, Vice President of Marketing, has been chosen as one of Central Penn Business Journal’s 2015 Women of Influence. This award recognizes women who have a significant positive impact in local businesses and communities. Bowker was among 27 honorees at the sixth annual event on June 15th. “Being included with such an accomplished group of women is both rewarding and inspiring. I hope that hearing the stories of each of my fellow honorees will motivate others to pursue their passions in both business and community service,” says Bowker.

Bowker has been a loyal employee of PSECU for over 28 years. During this time she has served in the Marketing, Member Services, and Information Technology departments. Since 2005, she has served as the Vice President of Marketing. Under Bowker’s leadership, the Marketing Department has seen great growth. Bowker currently oversees 110 employees and two of the credit union’s three strategic concepts. Among other accomplishments, her leadership has allowed for notable expansion of the University Development program, further integration of technology into marketing and membership development strategies, and greater community involvement and outreach.

Outside of PSECU, Bowker is committed to community service. She has an extensive history of volunteerism with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Capital Region Division and will become Board Chair of this organization in July 2015. Barb also serves as Secretary of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber’s Board and a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation Board of Directors. In 2015, she finished her term as a member of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors, where she served as Secretary. Barb is a graduate of the Leadership Harrisburg Area Community Leadership Series and a past recipient of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Women of Excellence award.

Opened in 1934, PSECU was founded by 22 ordinary people who made an extraordinary commitment to each other: To create a financial institution where pooled resources benefit all members. Today, we are a full-service credit union serving more than 400,000 members and have over $4 billion in assets. As a not-for-profit financial institution, our goal remains to help our members and their families achieve a better life.
