Baton Rouge area credit unions support Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital

BATON ROUGE, LA (December 3, 2013) —  On Friday, November 1, 2013, Campus Federal, Pelican State and Neighbors Federal Credit Union hosted the 10th Annual Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament at Santa Maria Golf Course in Baton Rouge. The tournament was successful in raising $20,899 for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital (OLOLCH). Proceeds from this tournament will be dedicated to the expansion of OLOLCH.

OLOLCH is Louisiana’s fastest-growing children’s hospital. Last year, the hospital saw children from 62 of 64 Louisiana parishes and treated over 86,000 patients. OLOLCH is looking to the future to prepare to care for the ever-increasing number of children and families who come to them for their healthcare needs.

“We rely on community support to continue our mission of hope and healing for all of our children. We are so grateful for the support of these credit unions. It is very unique to see businesses in the same industry join forces like this to support a good cause,” said John Paul Funes, President and CEO of OLOL Foundation.

This event has been planned in the cooperative spirit of credit unions for ten years and is a testament to the industry philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ It is planned and supported by the CEOs of the three host credit unions: John Milazzo of Campus Federal, Jeffrey K. Conrad of Pelican State and Kathi Gill of Neighbors Federal.

Almost 100 professionals from credit unions and local businesses came together to support this charity event. Participating credit unions included E Federal CU, DOW Louisiana FCU, Louisiana USA FCU and Baton Rouge Telco FCU. The Louisiana Credit Union League and its Baton Rouge Chapter also sponsored this year’s event.
