Belvoir Federal Spreads Holiday Cheer to Military Families

Woodbridge, VA, December 18, 2012 Belvoir Federal Credit Union employees contributed over $1,500 to an employee giving fund that provided gifts to those in need this holiday season. The employees of Belvoir Federal have made supporting families in need an annual tradition through the USO’s “Adopt-A-Family” program, the Fort Belvoir Chaplin, and Operation Sugarplum, provided by Army Community Service (ACS).

With the generous donations of credit union employees, Belvoir Federal was able to adopt ten children from the USO Metropolitan Washington and one military family of four. Those adopted by Belvoir Federal were showered with gifts to help make their holidays a little brighter. Belvoir Federal also donated $300 to the Operation Sugarplum program which provided eligible families assigned to Fort Belvoir gifts and/or food cards during the holidays.

Although the giving spirit is among the credit union culture year-round, the holidays provide us with the opportunity to help others during this special time of year. As a credit union, Belvoir Federal is the community’s local credit union that cares about people helping people.

USO Metropolitan Washington is a nationwide program that lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families by providing various programs and events. For more information, visit www.usometro.org.
