Call Federal launches new program to help Heroes become Homeowners

RICHMOND, VA (April 7, 2015) —  Call Federal Credit Union hopes its new Call Federal Welcome Home Mortgage Program will help more individuals and families in Richmond realize the dream of home ownership.

The Call Federal Welcome Home Program offers up to $7,500 in down payment and closing cost assistance to qualified men and women who fall into a number of service-based categories. These community partners include law enforcement, educators, firefighters, and healthcare workers.

The program also helps veterans and active-duty military members, with up to $10,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance.

Up to $5,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance is available for first-time homebuyers who do not fall into the community partner/military categories. “In fact, if you haven’t owned a home in the last three years, you could be eligible under the program as a first-time homebuyer” says Call Federal CEO and President, Roger Ball.

According to Ball, the Welcome Home program falls in line with Call Federal’s mission of improving family financial health. “Home ownership can help create financial stability for families and for the community at large,” says Ball.

Call Federal is hosting a free Home Buying 101 Workshop on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at LaPrade Library, 9000 Hull Street Road, in Chesterfield. The workshop will focus on the basics of buying a home and will discuss the Call Federal Welcome Home Program. Anyone interested in attending may reserve a space by registering online at CallFederal.org.
