Call Federal’s Chief Financial Officer named one of Virginia’s Top CFOs

RICHMOND, VA (June 26, 2015) — Virginia Business magazine recognized Call Federal’s CFO, George P. Kite III, as Virginia’s top CFO in the category of small nonprofit organization during its 10th Annual Virginia CFO Awards ceremony. Virginia Business presented awards on Tuesday night in Richmond to chief financial officers in five categories.

Kite has served as Call Federal’s CFO since 2006. He currently manages the credit union’s $350 million in assets. Kite takes pride in maintaining a well-capitalized credit union. Call Federal ended 2014 with a net worth ratio of 11.99%, nearly twice the regulatory requirement of 6%. Under Kite’s leadership, Call Federal has shifted more funds out of investments to free up money to loan to members. In 2014, Call Federal’s loan growth surged 20%, with vehicle loans increasing 51%.

Kite is passionate about financial literacy and volunteers his time to talk to people about improving their personal finances. In 2014, he led a series of financial education workshops for homeless veterans through HomeAgain’s Veteran’s Transitional Housing Program.

In addition to his CFO duties, Kite serves as Call Federal’s Vice President of Human Resources. Kite says his most rewarding accomplishments at Call Federal have to do with identifying talented professionals and empowering those people to chart their own path into positions of leadership and increased responsibility.

Other recognitions for Kite include being selected to participate in Lead Virginia, an organization that connects leaders to shape Virginia’s future by generating visionary solutions to statewide challenges, and being featured by Style Weekly in their Richmond Top 40 Under 40 (2012).

Established in 1962, Call Federal is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with 30,000 members and $350 million in assets.  Call Federal membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or goes to school in the Greater Richmond area, which includes 16 counties and the cities of Richmond, Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell.
