Carolina Foothills FCU accepts United Way Awards

SPARTANBURG, SC (June 23, 2015) — The United Way of the Piedmont held its annual awards banquet at the Chapman Cultural Center on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Spartanburg Marriott. Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union was recognized for its superior accomplishments in the following categories: Outstanding Creativity Award for Campaign; Circle of Excellence; Community Impact Award for $5,000-$10,000 category; Employee Giving for $5,000—$10,000 and 2015 Nonprofit Fellowes Graduate.

The Outstanding Creativity Award was for Carolina Foothills development of the “Amazing Race” theme. The object was to have employees race to various United Way agencies and learn what it does to help the community. Campaign success is evident by the receipt of two other awards received — Community Impact ( 90% of employee giving to Community Impact Fund for health, education or financial stability; total impact dollars is estimated at $35,393.93 or $5.83 for each employee dollar given) and Employee Giving (average was $189 per employee— highest increase over previous year).

The Circle of Excellence was awarded based on the attainment of three criteria: Giving, best practices and non-financial contributions such as volunteer hours.

Lisa Vandys, Compliance & Training Officer completed the Non-Profit Fellowes Program which was established for the dual purpose of (1) educating our community leaders on the critical role non-profit organizations play in the community and (2) equipping these individuals with the skills necessary to serve as effective volunteer leaders. The program engages ten to fifteen individuals in a six month journey of community-minded enlightenment and skill building. Monthly sessions are led by servant leaders who seek to engage participants in a lifetime of service.
