CASE Credit Union awards scholarships to local students

LANSING, MI (June 23, 2014) — CASE Credit Union awarded $11,000 in college scholarships to eight deserving local students at their annual meeting on June 17th.

The Chubb/Hayes/Feeman Scholarship awarded $1,000 to six college-bound high school seniors. Winners were chosen based on their academic achievement, community involvement, school activities, awards and honors, financial need, recommendations and an essay about financial literacy initiatives.

Scholarships were awarded to:

  • Aleeah Ray from Everett, who will be attending Michigan State University
  • Hadiya Williams from Everett, who has two colleges of choice that she has been accepted to, the University of Michigan and Spelman College
  • Natalie Henry from Waverly, who will be attending Central Michigan University
  • Miranda Steward from Charlotte, who will be attending Central Michigan University
  • Emily Konen from Grand Ledge, who will be attending Grand Valley State University
  • Sheldon Weiss from Williamston, who will be attending Grand Valley State University

The Constance Knowlton Scholarship awarded a $2,500 scholarship to two Lansing Community College students. Constance Knowlton was a retired teacher from the Lansing School District where she taught for over 30 years touching the lives of many generations of students. Her commitment to education went far beyond the classroom, having served for many years as a member of the Michigan Education Association and CAREEA (Retired Teachers Association).

Scholarships were awarded to:

  • Julie Hoch, who is studying Emergency Medical Services
  • Christopher Cornell, who is studying Fire Science
