CCCU announces Melissa Vigil as new Chief Operating Officer

PORTLAND, OR (October 11, 2022) — Following a nationwide search, Consolidated Community Credit Union (CCCU) is pleased to announce the selection of Melissa Vigil as the credit union’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Vigil has more than seventeen years of leadership experience in operations and human resources and comes from Northwest Community Credit Union in Eugene, OR, where she was Chief Operating Officer of the $1.9 billion organization since 2017. During her decade-long tenure, Vigil was responsible for the credit union’s operations, human resources, administration, strategy, facilities, marketing, support services, and compliance – and was instrumental in helping them grow by nearly $1.25 billion in assets. Prior to her move into the credit union industry, Vigil held several leadership positions in human resources.

“In our search for a new COO, we sought a candidate with experience in and a focus on the employee and member experience, as well as an aptitude for inspiring greatness,” stated CCCU President/CEO Larry Ellifritz. “We are confident that Melissa is the right candidate and will bring meaningful value to our credit union. She is passionate about helping and giving back, making her a great fit.”

Vigil holds a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and an MBA in Executive Leadership from George Fox University. She has volunteered for multiple advisory roles within the industry, including the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Governmental Affairs, and is President/Founding Member of the Global Women’s Leadership Network – Willamette Valley Chapter. Vigil is a graduate of the Filene i3 Program as well as the CUES School of Applied Strategic Management, earning the designation of Certified Senior Executive (CSE). In addition, she is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner and holds SHRM-SCP and SPHR senior HR certifications. Outside of the credit union industry, Vigil is a volunteer Board Member for two nonprofits focused on helping children and families in Oregon.

When asked about her new position, Melissa stated, “I’m excited to write a new chapter with CCCU and look forward to helping shape, develop, and motivate their growing team. From my time at Northwest Community to now at CCCU, I’m incredibly honored to continue a career in an industry built upon the philosophy of people helping people.”
