CFE captures “Community Service Champion” Award, ranks fifth in 2014 Top 100 Companies for Working Families

LAKE MARY, FL (August 8, 2014) —  For the eleventh consecutive year, CFE Federal Credit Union has been named a Top 100 Company for Working Families by the Orlando Sentinel. The credit union ranked fifth among mid-size companies with 100 to 499 employees, its highest ranking to date. Rankings are based on compensation, benefits programs, training, company culture, communications, and general work environment.

In addition, CFE captured the singular Community Service Champion Award. The two accolades demonstrate CFE’s commitment to providing an outstanding employment experience, while making significant contributions to the community’s overall well-being.

CFE’s involvement in the various communities it serves was nowhere more evident than in the 2013 opening of its student-run branch location at Oak Ridge High School, the credit union’s fifth in-school branch operated entirely by students. CFE’s on-site presence at all five high schools has prompted improvements in financial literacy through both academic classes and real-world business experience for students working in the branches.

Other recent charitable CFE-sponsored events include the CFE Back-to-School Blast held at the Semoran Skateway, which attracted 450 attendees and raised more than $5,000 to benefit the American Heart Association, and the Back-to-School Supply Drive held in conjunction with A Gift For Teaching.

“Being recognized as one of Central Florida’s best places to work reflects the quality of our staff, management team, and Board of Directors,” said Joseph A. Melbourne, Jr., President and CEO of CFE. “Our employees are our greatest asset, and the primary reason why CFE was selected as the 2014 Community Service Champion. Our commitment to both the community and our employees’ well-being will continue to shape CFE’s mission moving forward.”
