Chartway’s Week of Giving brings Utah communities together for celebrations and sell-out fundraising event

Community partners come together to create memorable experiences for medically fragile children

Salt Lake City, UT (June 5, 2026) |

Chartway Credit Union’s Chartway Promise Foundation recently wrapped up a weeklong series of celebratory and fundraising events dedicated to delivering joy, hope, and smiles to medically fragile children and their families across Utah. Through a strategic partnership with Make-A-Wish Utah, the events included a special guest appearance by National Football League (NFL) and Utah football legend Luther Elliss, the reveal of the Chartway Arcade Zone at Make-A-Wish (MAW) Utah’s facility in Murray, Utah and granting the wishes of a lifetime to two children. Together, the events reaffirmed Chartway’s strong commitment to the Utah community and raised funds to benefit even more children.

"These events are a meaningful thanks to our partners, donors, and communities who make it possible for us to create special moments for our Promise Heroes and their families,” said Rebecca Riordan, chief people & culture officer of Chartway Credit Union and president of Chartway Promise Foundation. “Because of their support, we’re able to turn generosity into experiences that truly matter for children facing difficult journeys.”

"Chartway’s Foundation exists because serving our communities is core to who we are as a credit union,” said Brian Schools, president & CEO of Chartway Credit Union. “Through the foundation, we turn compassion into action by supporting medically fragile children and their families with experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles. These events reflect our ongoing commitment to serving and strengthening the communities we call home across Utah.”

The week’s celebrations concluded Friday, May 29 at the Foundation’s second annual Night for Joy fundraising event, held at Ken Garff University Club in Salt Lake City, Utah. The football themed “Touchdowns & Triumphs” sold-out event saw record attendance that brought together charity partners and community members for an evening of food, refreshments, entertainment, a silent auction, and raffle prizes. The highlight of the night came when Utah and NFL legend Luther Elliss surprised 18-year-old Sam, who has congenital heart disease, with the news that he will soon meet his favorite NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Football has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and getting the chance to meet my favorite team feels unreal,” said Promise Hero Sam. “I can’t wait to make awesome memories with my family and do something I’ve dreamed about my whole life.”

“Football has shaped so much of my life, but it has also given me a platform to show up for moments that matter,” said Elliss. “What Chartway Promise Foundation is doing through Night for Joy goes far beyond the game. As a father to a son with the same condition as Sam, this moment with him hits close to home, and being able to use football to help create hope, joy, and an unforgettable experience for him and his family is something I am truly honored to be part of.”

On Thursday, May 28, Chartway Promise Foundation hosted its 10th annual Putting for Promises golf tournament at Stonebridge Golf Club in West Valley, Utah. The signature event brought together a full course of golfers, sponsors, and volunteers for a day focused on raising awareness and funds to support the Foundation’s mission. Charity partners, Promise Heroes – that’s what Chartway calls children who benefit from our grants – and their families were also in attendance, helping to celebrate the impact made possible through community support.

Later that evening, 11-year-old Corbin, who has congenital heart disease, was celebrated during a Chartway team member connection event at TopGolf in Salt Lake City. He and his family shared one of his wishes for an Alaskan fishing trip. He will learn later this year if that wish comes true, thanks to Chartway Promise Foundation’s partnership with MAW Utah.

The week kicked off on Wednesday, May 27 in Murray with a celebration of Chartway’s long-standing partnership with MAW Utah. As the organization’s largest corporate donor, Chartway Promise Foundation has contributed $3 million in grants and funded 500 wishes over the last 15 years.

During the event, 2023 wish recipient and Promise Hero Jaxon presented the “500 Wishes Award” to Chartway Promise Foundation, symbolizing 500 transformed lives and families strengthened through hope due to wishes granted since the partnership began in 2010. The celebration also included the reveal of the Chartway-funded Chartway Arcade Zone at MAW Utah’s Wishing Place. Wish Kids enjoyed games and a welcoming space created to offer joy and escape during their medical journeys.

"Our 15-year partnership with Chartway Promise Foundation has helped make hundreds of wishes possible for children across Utah,” said Daniel Dundley, president & CEO of Make-A-Wish Utah. “From granting our milestone 500 wishes together to creating meaningful spaces like the Chartway Arcade Zone, Chartway continues to lead with heart in ways that directly impact the children and families we serve. This arcade gives our Wish Kids a place to simply be kids during their medical journey, and we are incredibly grateful for Chartway’s unwavering commitment to helping wishes and hope come to life.”

Since its inception in 2005, Chartway Promise Foundation has granted $17 million that directly supports the programs run by the Foundation’s dozens of charitable partners. In 2025, the Foundation provided more than $1 million to 33 charity partners to help fund programs in 2026; nine of those partners are in Utah and received a combined $387K, they include:
