Madison, Wis. – The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) has hired Christopher Morris as its Director of Communications, effective September 20. Morris most recently served as Manager of Communications and Web Resources for CUNA Councils in Madison, Wis. Before joining the Councils in early 2007, Morris was Manager of Communications at NCUF.
Morris will be based in Madison and report to NCUF’s Deputy Executive Director, COO/CFO, Tom Candell. As Director of Communications, Morris is responsible for the development and execution of strategic communications for the Foundation. This includes creating traditional and electronic media materials, managing NCUF’s online presence, and more to increase awareness, understanding and support of the Foundation and its programs and services.
“We are happy to have Christopher back at the Foundation,” said Candell. “With his unique experience and talent in the communications and web field, I know he will do a fantastic job.”
As a result of recent organizational changes, the Director of Communications position was created after two positions were moved from Washington, D.C. to Madison. The positions were vacant after staff decided not to relocate.
“I am excited to join the NCUF team again,” Morris said. “The work they do is amazing and rewarding – promoting consumers’ financial independence through credit unions.”
While at NCUF previously, Morris built cuaid.coop, the first national online disaster relief fundraising system for credit unions. Morris blogs on a number of industry sites, is an editor at CUwatercooler.com and was a member of Filene Research Institute’s 30 under 30 group. Before entering the credit union system, he was a high school English teacher and is a veteran of the United States Army.
Morris can be reached at 800-356-9655, ext.4374, or cmorris@ncuf.coop.
