City announces new title sponsor and website for Chalk the Block 2022

Three-day Festival Celebrates 15 Years in the 915!

EL PASO, TX (August 26, 2022) — The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) is excited to announce that Raiz Federal Credit Union is the title sponsor of this year’s Chalk the Block Festival. This year the downtown festival will take place from Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9, in the Downtown Arts District.

“As we celebrate 15 Years in the 915, this partnership with Raiz highlights our commitment to the City of El Paso and shared mission to amplify the vibrancy of our city by supporting opportunities for economic growth in the creative sector,” said Cultural Affairs and Recreation Managing Director Ben Fyffe. “MCAD is proud to have Raiz Federal Credit Union sponsor this special milestone for Chalk the Block.”

Formerly known as TFCU, Raiz Federal Credit Union was established by seven educators who worked together to create strong roots in our community and make a reality the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Throughout their history, they have helped hundreds of thousands of people in this community make their dreams a reality. Today, rooted in their heritage of education, they serve all in El Paso County and have grown to over 70,000 members and nine branch locations throughout El Paso. As they roll out their new name to the community, they are excited to continue to support the arts through this title sponsorship with the City to bring this one-of-a-kind event to everyone in the border region.

“We are inspired by El Pasoans and the vibrancy they bring into everything they do. Our passion to create new pathways forward comes from our strong roots in the community,” said Raiz Federal Credit Union Vice President of Marketing, Alejandro Yu. “As the title sponsor for Chalk the Block’s 15th anniversary, we look forward to continue supporting the arts and artists that showcase how extraordinary our city truly is.”

In addition, Chalk the Block has officially launched a new website www.chalktheblock.com. The site provides visitors an interactive experience and an easier, fun way to find information about Chalk the Block. The revamped site includes event details, information on artists and art installations, a picture gallery and more.

Chalk the Block will include a juried sidewalk chalk art competition, temporary art installations, street performances, a live music stage at San Jacinto Plaza, local art and food vendors, free art activities at the El Paso Museums of Art, History and Archaeology, and more.
