Community Resource donates to IPH to help the homeless

ALBANY, NY (December 22, 2014) — Community Resource Federal Credit Union’s employees donated $1,945 to Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH) to help with its Safe Haven Shelter. Housed at IPH’s Drop-in Shelter, Safe Haven is an emergency shelter created to meet the growing need for warm places for the homeless to sleep during the winter months.

“Every night we convert our Drop-in Shelterto a 40-bed dwelling. We originally planned for 19 beds, but the demand is so high that we’ve had to make accommodations by purchasing extra cots and borrowing some from the Red Cross,” said Janine Robitaille, Executive Director of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless.

Community Resource’s employees raised a total of $4,800 during the year for IPH, which was distributed through A Taste of Albany, the Summer Youth Program, Partners in Philanthropy, and the final check contribution of $1,945.

Community Resource Federal Credit Union is a community credit union serving those who live, work, worship, or attend school in Albany County and their families. Community Resource provides friendly service, outstanding rates, and low fees on a full range of financial products. Community Resource has $75 million in assets and 7,000 members.
