Congress passes funding for flood insurance, CDFI funds
WASHINGTON, DC (September 8, 2017) — The House and Senate passed a government funding package that reauthorizes the National Flood Insurance Program and maintains fiscal year 2017 funding levels for the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) fund.
“Congress reauthorizing the national flood insurance program and fully funding the CDFI fund are important, but short-term victories for credit unions,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “CUNA, leagues and credit unions have worked hard to bring attention to the positive impact CDFI funds have, and we will continue to do so to ensure credit unions receive support in future budgets, and we will continue to work with Congress to ensure the flood insurance program is affordable and viable for generations to come.”
