Consumers Credit Union announces two new Grand Rapids offices to open in Fall 2014

KALAMAZOO, MI (February 12, 2014) – Consumers Credit Union announces the building of two new locations in Grand Rapids in 2014. The new locations will be in Gaines Township, (1673 68th St. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316) and Cascade (5597 28th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512).

Construction will begin this spring with both offices slated to open this fall. They will feature approximately 3,200 square feet with the latest in banking technology including touch screen access to financial education and an online and mobile banking center for account access and demos. The new offices will also feature a full service lobby with a free coffee bar, children’s play area, and free wireless Internet access, along with a loan and member service area, drive thru lanes, and outdoor ATM. The full range of Consumers’ services will be offered, including new accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, investment services, business services, and more. Additional staff will be hired to serve members in this new market.

“These new offices will allow us to provide more focused service to our Grand Rapids members and continue our strong trajectory of controlled growth,” says Kit Snyder, President and CEO. “The new technology in these offices will empower members with financial education and convenient online and mobile money management options, while our full-service staff will be ready to assist with the sensitive or complex transactions that members prefer to handle in person.”

In addition, the credit union’s South Haven office will undergo renovations this spring that include a similar technology upgrade. Says Snyder, “These renovations will provide members with touch screen access to financial education and an updated online and mobile banking center, along with a a service area for one-one-one assistance from staff. We’re thrilled to update our South Haven office, which has been a mainstay for us since 2000.”

Consumers, which began operations in 1951, currently serves more than 55,000 members in West Michigan with 14 offices and over $500 million in total assets. The credit union looks forward to providing greater access to its members and superior service to more West Michigan households with the opening of these new locations in 2014.
