KALAMAZOO, MI (June 5, 2015) — Consumers Credit Union is set to break ground on a new retail banking office at TheCorner@Drake, the new retail development at Stadium Drive and Drake Road. The new site is off Century Avenue and next to the new Costco warehouse club store.

It will be about twice the size of Consumers’ 16 other retail offices. “We will have a few more folks than a typical retail center,” said Scott Sylvester, chief operations officer for Consumers Credit Union.

The new retail office will be two stories and eventually house 12 to 15 workers, including some involved in investment services, mortgage lending, business loans and small business services. It may also become a central location to do mortgage loan closings.

Sylvester said, “Consumers plans to break ground on the project in August and be operating by March 2016.”

Consumers, which began operations in 1951, currently serves more than 61,000 members with 16 offices and over $600 million in total assets. The credit union looks forward to providing greater access to its members and superior service to more Michigan households.
