Cookin’Up to Help Volunteers of America

Warm atmosphere and homemade cooking will greet you at the Holiday Fleamarket this Saturday, December 1, Mother Butler Center in Rapid City. This is a great opportunity to find a unique gift for that special person on your holiday list. Follow the aroma of good cooking to the concession stand prepared by volunteers from Highmark FCU where proceeds from food sales will benefit Volunteers of America.

Indulge yourself with a cup of hot chocolate or apple cider as you walk through the booths loaded with gift items. Enjoy breakfast or lunch of biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, or sloppy joes. And you can feel good that the proceeds will benefit our community through Volunteers of America, Dakota.

The mission of Volunteers of America Dakotas, is to help children, youth, adults and families in our community become and remain productive and healthy. One area of support from VOA comes through Mommy’s Closet program. “Young families have particular needs and sometimes have difficulty meeting those needs,” explained Laura Neubert, Development Coordinator at Volunteers of America-Dakotas.” Mommy’s Closet is a specific program that helps fill the need with supplies, clothing and parenting guidance. We rely on generous financial support from within our community to help us continue to meet these needs.”

Make time to stop by and shop at the December Fleamarket at the Mother Butler Center, 231 Knollwood Drive in Rapid City. Doors open at 9:00 am on Saturday and you can shop until doors close at 2:00 pm.

Please contact Laura Neubert, Development Coordinator, Volunteers of America at 341-8336 or Dawn Laskowski at Highmark FCU at 716-4444 for additional information on this fundraising effort and the Volunteers of America organization.
