Corry Station CPOA partners with Pen Air Federal Credit Union for 5K run

PENSACOLA, FL (December 20, 2013) —  The Corry Station Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA) and Pen Air Federal Credit Union partnered to host the third annual Crime Stoppers 5K Run in memory of Tyler Jefferson on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Corry Station in Pensacola, FL.

Jefferson, an 18-year old Navy Sailor, was found murdered near the gates of Corry Station on November 12, 2009.  The investigation is still ongoing due to a composite sketch of one of the assailants.  This run was conceived in response to her death in hopes of finding the person(s) responsible as well as assisting with other needless crimes in our community against both military personnel and civilians.

Previous races have helped raise Crime Stoppers reward money for the capture of the criminals responsible for Jefferson’s death.  All proceeds from this year’s run will be donated to Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers.

“Pen Air FCU is a proud supporter of Corry Station’s CPOA, and we hope our involvement with this run helps raise awareness for Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers and their efforts to combat crime in our community.” said Pen Air FCU Director of Public Relations, Patty Veal.

Run course began inside Corry Station gates and took participants through the nearby neighborhoods past site of Tyler Jefferson crime scene/memorial. Registration forms were available at all Pen Air FCU offices or online at www.active.com.
