Credit union holds collection drive for animal rescue

GLENDALE, AZ (May 20, 2015) — Credit Union West will be collecting food and supplies to benefit Home ‘Fur’ Good Animal Rescue and Placement. The drive will be held the month of June at each of their branch locations. The rescue’s mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable homeless cats and dogs in Maricopa County. They provide medical care, adoption placement, and outreach education for pet owners as well as promote spay/neuter procedures. The rescue’s director of shelter operations, Lynda Logan, said they are always in need of supplies and food donations.

“Collection drives are vitally important to Home ‘Fur’ Good,” Logan said. “They help us survive by allowing us to spend monetary donations on veterinary care, medications, behavioral training, spay/neuter surgeries, and shelter maintenance.”

The rescue is made of people who are ‘animal lovers at heart’ with the goal to make a positive difference in the lives of homeless cats and dogs. Many of the organization’s founders met through either working or volunteering together with other organizations. Since 2009 they’ve been holding low-cost vaccine clinics, adoption events and pet-owner education all while rescuing dogs and cats from being euthanized. Their Facebook page is filled with encouraging stories and pictures of animal rescues and pet adoptions.

In keeping with the credit union philosophy of people helping people, Credit Union West is encouraging the community to help in their efforts to provide supplies and food for the shelter. “We’re dedicated to making a difference in our communities; supporting local charities is a part of who we are.” said VP/Chief Information Officer Scott Grundy.
