Credit union in Pensacola, FL helps fight hunger this holiday season

The financial institution strives to further support their community in times of uncertainty.

PENSACOLA, FL (December 21, 2020) — Central Credit Union of Florida raised funds throughout the year to make donations to Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and the Waterfront Rescue Mission of Pensacola to help combat hunger during this holiday season. Their total contribution of $500 provided 350 meals for those in need.

The homeless population in the Pensacola area grew rapidly this year as many were laid off due to the pandemic. With so many in need of assistance, Central Credit Union of Florida made it a priority to allocate funds that would be donated to ensure their neighbors and others in the city had access to one of the most fundamental human needs, food and sustenance. As Barbara MacNeil, Central Credit Union of Florida Community Liaison stated, “Everyone deserves a warm meal, especially during the holiday season. We selected these programs this year because taking care of those who do not have everything is important to us. We live our mission to help people, it drives us, and we feel humbled and honored to do so.”

Central Credit Union of Florida devotes a significant amount of time and effort into supporting not just their members but the community as a whole. With four branch locations in the Pensacola metro area and another in Panama City, Central is able to assist many charities across the western Florida Panhandle and regularly schedules several fundraising events throughout the year whether it be through candy bar sales or online giveaways through social media.
