Credit Union of Ohio supports veterans on a once-in-a-lifetime journey

Hilliard, OH (August 8, 2025) |

In a gesture of deep appreciation for Ohioans who have served our country, Credit Union of Ohio recently donated $5,000 to Honor Flight Columbus, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honor America’s veterans with all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor.

The cause is close to home for Credit Union of Ohio’s CEO Rich Capuano whose father had the opportunity to participate in an Honor Flight last summer.

“Seeing firsthand the impact this program had on my father and hearing the stories of other veterans on that flight was moving,” said Capuano. “Credit Union of Ohio is proud to support an organization that provides such a meaningful tribute to the sacrifices made by our veterans.”

Many Credit Union of Ohio employees, members, and their families are veterans or have close ties to those who have served, making this partnership with Honor Flight Columbus especially impactful.

Credit Union of Ohio was invited to further spotlight the initiative in a recent appearance on 610 WTVN radio, where Honor Flight Columbus Executive Director Beth Johnson also joined to discuss the importance of these missions and the funding required to make each one possible. According to Johnson, each flight costs over $100,000 to operate.

This donation reflects Credit Union of Ohio’s ongoing commitment to invest in causes that create lasting, widespread impact across its member communities. For more details on Credit Union of Ohio’s work in the community, visit cuofohio.org.
