Credit union supports Mommy’s Closet charity

RAPID CITY, SD (May 21, 2015) — Minuteman Community Federal Credit Union (MCFCU) recently held an annual hygiene drive to benefit the Mommy’s Closet crisis resource organization.  The credit union asked their members to save any unused toiletries they have from hotel stays and bring them to the credit union for this charitable cause.  “Our response from members was overwhelming” said Mary Connick, President/CEO of Minuteman FCU.

The many donated items were used to make gift packages for Mommy’s Closet, part of the Volunteers of America (VOA) organization.  The credit union also donated their accumulated jeans day money from a staff of 4 full timers, and made a cash donation of $353.00 to Mommy’s Closet.  “The volunteers at Mommy’s closet were overwhelmed with our donation” added Connick.

Mommy’s Closet is a free crisis resource provider for families with infants and toddlers who are unable to access the immediate necessities for their child. In addition to personal hygiene products, Mommy’s Closet offers items such as diapers, wipes and formula, small children’s clothing, referrals for additional assistance, and parenting classes.
