Credit Union West executives awarded for their leadership

GLENDALE, AZ (September 15, 2022) — Credit Union West top executives were recognized as outstanding women in business and leadership in Arizona. President and CEO, Karen Roch, and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ning Duong, have been named among ‘Arizona’s Most Influential Women’ and the ‘Top 50 Women Leaders in Arizona’ this year, respectively.

Credit Union West prides itself on being a great place to work and bank. The organization has been named a ‘Top Company to Work for in Arizona’ for the last 10 years in a row. Living that promise means that the organization’s leadership is focused on supporting their employees so they can provide superior service to the credit union’s members.

In August, Roch joined other honorees for the “Arizona’s Most Influential Women’s” celebration dinner at the Chateau Luxe in Phoenix, AZ. Hosted by AZ Business Magazine, the awards recognize women like Roch, in real estate, business, nonprofits and other leadership or influential roles.

“Being able to listen to different points of view not only helps me make the best decisions for the credit union, but it creates that engagement where people really feel like they have a say and a voice in our organization,” Roch said.

Roch just celebrated 23 years with the credit union and has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with an emphasis in Human Resources from Arizona State University and an MBA from Grand Canyon University.

Duong was named one of the ‘Top 50 Women Leaders of Arizona for 2022’ by Women We Admire in late August. Awardees are selected based on an individual’s professional track record and current leadership position. Women We Admire strives to identify women leaders of the highest caliber coming from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds.

“My biggest philosophy on leadership is being kind and having empathy,” Duong said. “I think sometimes we forget that our employees’ entire world is not about work. They give us a part of them while they’re here and they need to be able to also give their full selves when they’re away, so being kind and having empathy helps contribute to people being the best version of themselves while they’re at work.”

Duong joined Credit Union West in 2021 and has helped shape the organization’s culture with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Duong has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University, has her Diversity and Inclusion certificate from eCornell, and earned her Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) designation from the National Credit Union Foundation.

Credit Union West is so proud of the work these exceptional women do to guide the organization in its mission to inspire its members, employees, and communities to achieve their financial goals and enhance their quality of life.
