CUES appoints Mendez to Board of Directors
MADISON, WI (March 20, 2017) — CUES is pleased to announce Erin Mendez, CCE, president/CEO, Patelco Credit Union, Pleasanton, Calif., has accepted a seat on the CUES Board of Directors.
“Erin is a strong addition to the CUES board,” said CUES’ chair Stephanie Sherrodd, CCE, president/CEO TDECU, Lake Jackson, Texas. “She is a proven innovative leader and will be a great asset.”
Mendez was named president/CEO of Patelco Credit Union in 2013. She previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer with SchoolsFirst FCU. Mendez’s previous experience includes serving as chief technology officer for Health Net Inc., senior vice president of operations and chief information officer for Western Financial Bank and senior vice president of retail banking at American Savings Bank.
“Erin has shown a strong commitment to the credit union industry and understands the important role leadership development plays in its success,” said John Pembroke, CUES’ president/CEO. “In her time at Patelco Credit Union, Erin’s dedication to ongoing professional development has helped shaped the organization’s culture and success. Mendez will fill the remainder of the term left vacant by Caroline Willard, past chair/director of the CUES board and president/CEO, Cornerstone Credit Union League, Plano, Texas.

Mendez currently serves as a director for CU Direct, chairperson of the CUNA Payments Policy Subcommittee and serves on the CUNA Advocacy Committee. She is also a two-time recipient of the Most Influential Women of the Bay Area Award. Mendez earned the Certified Chief Executive (CCE)designation from CUES and is a graduate of CUES’ Advanced Leadership Institute, Harvard Business School.
